surf-life-savingSurf Life Saving Queensland’s – Little Life Savers

What better time than summer to introduce your little ones to Surf Lifesaving, without having to leave the city?

At the same time as teaching water confidence and beach safety, children will be guided through a structured program providing a wide range of games and educational activities.

All participants will also receive a free long-sleeved rashie to provide extra sun protection. Suitable for kids aged 5 to 13 years.

If your little monkeys are climbing the walls out of boredom, why not let them do so on in a controlled environment?

As part of Brisbane City Council’s Chillout program, the Rock Indoor Climbing Gym is providing climbing and abseiling classes for school-aged children in January, with weekly special offers available.

Rise Tennis

Rise Tennis is running as camp aimed at children keen on learning about different sports.

The program will teach skills for a variety of sports and movement patterns, as well as more in-depth training. Sessions will be divided between Tennis, Soccer, Point Play and Functional Movement.  

The program will develop skills over a variety of sports and movement patterns, footwork, court awareness and positional play for tennis, as well as the basic skills for tennis and soccer.

Suitable for ages 5 to 11 years. Locations in Ascot and Yeronga.

The whole family could easily spend the entire day at the Victoria Park Golf Complex.

As well as providing a range of golf classes for all ages, the complex also has an adventure playground and a brand new giant games area, which features giant Jenga, giant connect four, giant scrabble, giant chess and a jumping castle.

With adults at kids’ prices, the putt putt course will remain one of Brisbane’s most popular family outings.

Older kids will love the range of games available at Top Gun Paintball.

The experienced staff will guide the teams through the scenarios before letting the players loose on the field.

With a range of a different packages to suit any budget and located only 10 minutes from Brisbane’s CBD, Top Gun Paintball is well worth a visit. For the bigger kids – 15 years and over – or maybe mum and dad want to let off some steam?

This high-adrenalin activity is sure to burn through any excess energy your teens may have.

The Mount Petrie Bowmen are offering two introductory archery sessions during the school holidays.

Children will learn basic archery techniques in a fun and safe environment and – who knows? – may discover a new passion.

For an activity of a different kind, Story City is a free app that guides you and your kids in a real-life adventure using your smart phone or iPad.

Choose your own adventure across different Brisbane locations. 

Discover the hidden secrets of the city while being a pirate, detective or a ghost hunter! Suitable for children 8 years and up.
